The recently witnessed one of the most celebrated fashion events in the country. Due to the outbreak of deadly Coronavirus, the Fashion Design Council Of India (FDCI) decided to conduct the fashion weeks through a digital platform. Hence the Indian fashion industry witnessed the first-ever- Phygital Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2021. On the first day of the fashion extravaganza, renowned designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh, Payal Jain, DHI, Vaishali S, and Namrata Joshipura showcased their avant-garde collection. Day One At Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week!
As you must be aware, the event kick-started on the 14 October, and the Indian fashion industry spotted some of the best designs of the year 2020. The ace Indian fashion designer Nitin Bal Chauhan launched his latest collection named ‘Naevus.’ The thought that inspired him was that of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Next in fashion is his way of showcasing his latest collection. He unearthed the designs through a dramatic film that brought the art of storytelling and designing together.
NAEVUS By Nitin Bal Chauhan!
The JallianWala Bagh Massacre that took place on 13th April 1919, under the British Raj, inspired Nitin Bal Chauhan for his latest collection- NAEVUS. There are hints of colonial references amalgamated with military-inspired detailing in the outfits. It won’t be wrong to say that the military-inspired detailing is prominent in the collection “Naevus.”
Naevus effortlessly celebrates Victorian collars and cuffs, along with exaggerated sleeves combined with Nitin Bal Chauhan’s signature 3D embroidery. The collection beautifully amalgamates the bygone era with the present.
The collection had bright red hues of the British Army uniforms to soft tones of the nude from the color palette. To be precise- the grunge textures, detailed hand embroideries amalgamated with bold military styling is a reminiscence of the past.
Nitin Bal Chauhan tried to recreate the whole incident and revisit history. The incident was enacted by the models wearing dramatic make-up, accessories with puffed sleeve red jackets with metal embellishments, classic white shirts with Victorian collars.
As a reminder of lost lives, Nitin chose to recreate the scenario through deathly, covered faces of the models who were spotted, adorning dresses, jackets, and trousers in soft colors like grey with intricate embroideries.
